January 9, 2020 Site Visit
We have a turret roof! We were delighted to see our staircase turret come to life outside with the completion of the turret roof. In general, things are moving along nicely. Just before the site visit we had a project review meeting to confirm the major upcoming items and dates. Drywall starts next week and the propane tank will be filled soon….just awaiting inspection. Then the house can be heated! That’s so important when it’s winter in Denver!
We also finalized the stairway wrought iron design and a number of other details. It’s great fun to see what gets revealed at each site.
Dec 12 Visit – We got the Roof
The weather and hard working sub finished a large portion of the roof this week. The metal roof for the two turrets is coming soon.
Now, the raise is going to be inside and Paula and I have a few projects to do in our own. Here are some pictures from today.

Visit December 4 – we have a front Door
I went to the job site twice this week and we have a lot of people working on different trades. The electrical work is well advance, the HVAC units installed, soon we are having heat available, the subs are going to be happy. The plumbing is 90% completed and the low voltage wires for the smart home system is progressing.

The turret has been a challenge for all the subs. While talking to them, they describe it as a very difficult and time consuming. I tell them it is a gift from my wife, now they know what it takes. These are some pictures of the turret from inside and outside:

The outside of the house is starting to look amazing as it comes with the amazing views of the mountain.

November 15 Site Visit – Just One Day Before my Birthday
Paula and I went to the construction site to oversee progress and walk the house with the electrician to verify location of switches, outlets, lights, etc.

The progress is significant. Most of the plumbing work is done, electrical is moving forward fast, the ducting for the HVAC system in place, fire place boxes in place.
On the outside most of the T&G for the eave is done and the gorgeous garage doors installed and stained.

Also, the Septic system in place, very impressive.

It was a great walkout the house today and supervised the progress and answer questions from the sub-contractors.
In about 3 ways, we will invite friends and the future neighbors to walk the property and enjoy some bubbly champagne with good cheese. Cheers
October 26th Visit
Today, Paula and I went to the site to a beautiful day of 73 degrees F right in between two snowy day. Tomorrow if forecast snow and temperature down to 20 F. Crazy, I know, but it is Colorado in the Fall.
The house progress is good, mostly all windows installed and sliding doors for both patio on. The interior work is progressing and we can feel the character of the design.
I took a few pictures of the vistas from our deck and patio as well as front, back yard, interior of the great room and the master bedroom.

October 3rd, 2019 Getting Close to Dried In!
Changes are happening quickly at the site now. The house is really starting to show it’s character and design now. We arrived to see the entry road and roundabout black top completed and the turret roof close to completion. All ducting for HVAC is done, with plumbing and electrical to start very soon. The beautiful structural truss beams are in place and windows are on site to be installed within days. Once that is well underway, the front door and garage doors will be delivered. Roofing is underway, so all these pieces coming together means we are weeks away from being “dried in”….meaning the house is sealed from the weather and can even be heated. You can see our well head in one picture below–it’s at the center of the roundabout. The well pump will be lowered and this round area will have a rock wall build to create a planting area (or maybe a place for a cool statue?)

.

We also took a day trip to the Boreas Pass (Como to Breckenridge) to see the Fall colors before the Aspen trees lose their leaves. You’ll also see some pictures from that outing below. Colorado is glorious during the Fall!

September 20th We Have Trusses!
Beautiful day at the lot today. We were able to view the 3 big trusses that are being put into place…..two in the great room and one for the main deck. Now the final portion of the roof framing will completed and ready for the roof. HVAC system also being completed. Windows waiting to be installed
We had a bit of a delay due to the truss arrival taking longer than expected plus the turret outer wall had to be rebuild. Everything now should move ahead rapidly as the push to get the house weather tight begins–that includes all exterior doors, exterior stucco and stone work, all windows and, of course the roof.

July 29 Site Meeting – Decision day for all the exterior material and colors – Big Day
Today, Paula and I went to a site meeting with the construction company principals and our project Superintendent. Made the decisions associated with stucco color, exterior trim color, siding color, metal roof color.
We also walked the house room by room and reviewed the modifications made for the steam sauna, reviewed the shower configuration and made small changes to improve the overall look.
The day was very sunny and the view amazing. Can wait to sit on the deck and look at the mountains.

July 18 Site Visit
Today, I went to the site to meet the superintendent and the company that will install the propane standby generator. The power is reliable, however, in our case, without power, even the water is gone because the electric pump for the well won operate.
The sky today was clear and the view magnificent. The facade of the house is showing the character of the design. We have stairs installed and the roof trusses are going up 👍👍😝😁😁
