Monday July 8th status. Progress continues. We walked the site construction with the Superintendent and reviewed progress. Things are moving quickly and we are making decisions. Today, we acquired the regular steam Sauna and the Infrared Sauna.

QUINTA QUERENCIA

We have found a perfect name for our retirement property in Parker, Colorado:
“Quinta Querencia”
   We settled on this name after our last vacation, which took us to Portugal.  There we learned about the word “Quinta”.   It has a different meaning in different Latin countries.  Growing up in Venezuela, a house was called Quinta because it was one of the nicest and/or largest in the neighborhood and it’s assumed that the people are living well.
   Quintas in Portugal are not well known outside of the country, but they are considered relished treasures of quality living.   Historically, Quintas we’re family owned estate type farms or small castles surrounded by large plots of nutrient rich land used to grow crops for the family or to sell.   More often than not these great estates we’re wine producers and the “Quinta” classification of Port vineyards in the Douro Valley” exists to this day.  This classification grades the quality potential of vineyards.
   The word “Querencia” is a Spanish word not commonly used, although it has several deep meanings.   One definition that we especially liked is “a place where one feels at home”.   Other definitions are “where one feels safe, a place from which one’s strength of character is drawn, a place where one feels at home.   “Querencia” is derived from the Spanish verb “Querer”……which means to desire or want.
   We feel this is a beautiful concept and fits our feelings about the property and the home we are building.    â€śQuinta Querencia”…….a place where we are our most authentic self, where we are empowered; a place that supports our deepest beliefs; where we feel safe and at home.
